Summer Paletot

Sold

This paletot was made using a pattern from Peterson's Magazine, August, 1863. It was called The Pardessus Danois. The engraving for this garment can be seen to the left of this screen. As you can see, I have trimmed my version a bit differently. My version has a collar trimmed with approximately 1" wide black velvet ribbon as well as narrow velvet ribbon sewn next to it. The pocket flaps (only for decoration) also have velvet ribbon trimming the edge as well as a square black glass button attached to each one. Five square black glass buttons are sewn to the front closure for decoration. Hooks and eyes are sewn to the inside.

The  edge of the modified pagoda sleeves and armscyes are piped with narrow cord. This is unlined. The front and bottom edges have a bias strip of the same fabric sewn on by hand to cover raw edge.

It is made of black silk (90% silk/10% cotton).

This should fit many sizes, since it is not fitted and is more like a saque.
