- Mantua-Maker Regency corset pattern.
- 1 1/2 yards each of lining fabric
and the outer layer fabric. I used cotton sateen.
- 1 1/2 yards of sturdier inner lining fabric.
I used coutil left over from another corset I made a few years ago.
- I used white cotton thread to sew
it together. I have heard that silk thread is very strong, but I would have
had to order this, and I didn't want to have to. :-)
- 1/16" wide hemp cord (I got mine at JoAnn
Fabrics) for the cording.
- 4 steel bones to fit in the front
and back. I'm still not sure how long I'll need mine. Just measure the length
of where you plan on putting the boning and then take an inch off of that
measurement.
- A good sharp needle, because I'm
doing this all by hand!
- Thimble (I couldn't sew a stitch
without one.)
- Wax to wax the thread. This helps the thread
from getting all tangled up and also strengthens the thread.
